Today i have matched up protocols such as HTPP, VoIP, Skype etc to their descriptions and then learned about them , how they work etc.
We also learned about what happens when we click a hyperlink to another page and how each object has their own job etc the Router and how they all combine together to allow us to view the selected page.
Furthermore we learned about cloud servers which will soon possibly be becoming a large part in internet use.

Lesson 2 on the blog

What is meant by the following;

Raster: Raster graphics image or bitmap, is a data structure representing a generally rectangular grid of pixels, or points of color, viewable via a monitor, paper, or other display medium

Vector: Vector graphics is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), which are all based upon mathematical equations, to represent images in computer graphics .Vector graphics formats are complementary to raster graphics, which is the representation of images as an array of pixels, as it is typically used for the representation of photographic images

Metafile: Metafile is a generic term for a file format that can store multiple types of data. This commonly includes graphics file formats. These graphics files can contain raster, vector, and type data.

What are the differing features and uses of the following;

.jpeg: In computing, JPEG (pronounced JAY-peg; IPA: /ˈdʒeɪpɛg/) is a commonly used method of compression for photographic images. The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality. JPEG typically achieves 10:1 compression with little perceptible loss in image quality.

.gif: The Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) is a bitmap image format. The format supports up to 8 bits per pixel, allowing a single image to reference a palette of up to 256 distinct colors chosen from the 24-bit RGB color space. It also supports animations and allows a separate palette of 256 colors for each frame.

.tiff: Tagged Image File Format (abbreviated TIFF) is a file format for storing images, including photographs and line art. TIFF format is widely supported by image-manipulation applications, by publishing and page layout applications, by scanning, faxing, word processing, optical character recognition and other applications.

.png: Portable Network Graphics (PNG) is a bitmapped image format that employs lossless data compression. PNG was created to improve upon and replace GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) as an image-file format. PNG was designed for transferring images on the Internet, not professional graphics, and so does not support other color spaces (such as CMYK).
